Founded in Nairobi in 2016 as the Working Group on Tax with the support of leading intellectuals, scholars and lawyers we represented a strong African voice in decision-making circles which affected our continent's social, economic and financial security.

In 2018, we became the Committee on Fiscal Studies (CFS).

We are dedicated to the reform and strengthening of tax systems in the global south generating research needed for knowledge transfer, policy advocacy, capacity building and training.

We are based at the Faculty of Law, University of Nairobi.

CFS is overseen by an Executive Board. The current Executive Board members are: Dr. Attiya Waris, Dr. Lyla Latif, and Bosire Nyamori.

Join Our Mentorship Programme

We invite all students, globally, to apply to our annual mentorship program.

As the program launches our mentees bring their ideas about goals and objectives they would like to accomplish and their paired mentor then begins providing guidance, sharing professional development experience and participate in candid conversations intended to build confidence, trust and we hope, a lasting relationship.

Our mentees are trained on writing blogs, policy briefs, research papers, journal articles and designing primers. They are given an opportunity to moderate webinars, give a talk, assist on our training courses and shadow CFS Leadership.
