The Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) Research and Innovation Programme in partnership with the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Team (UN-TATT) held its first OACPS stakeholders’ knowledge exchange meeting in Addis Ababa from 14th to 17th February 2023. Dr. Parita Shah (Department of Geography, Population and Environmental Studies) was selected to represent the University of Nairobi. She was part of the Kenyan team which was represented by four members namely Dr. Tony Omwansa – Director, Kenya National Innovation Agency (KENIA); Agnes Tsuma (KENIA) and Gideon Kirui, NACOSTI. The deliberation was to exchange knowledge on the successful development and implementation of Research and Innovation policies, strategies and capacity building on the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Policy and policy instruments for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The outcome will include a handbook in which good practices, lessons learnt, successes, exploring best ways to respond to challenges and addressing specific issues like monitoring and evaluation, funding and incentives will be included.
